Lambrusco di Sorbara doc Vecchia Modena Premium 2021 Magnum was judged the World's Best Red Sparkling Wine, while sweeping two more prestigious awards at The 2022 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC). This is one of our most prized wines that garners the consensus of consumers and Italian wine critics. Yet, seeing magnums of our Lambrusco on the international stage, served alongside the most celebrated labels of Champagne at the gala dinner held by The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships at Merchant Taylor's Hall in London on November 3rd was a crowning accomplishment for the Chiarli family. Thirty years of meticulous work and investment by Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli and the team of agronomists and winemakers has brought a wine, loved and sold worldwide yet often dismissed by international critics, into the spotlight to receive much deserved recognition.
The magnum of Vecchia Modena Premium 2021 was chosen among 50 prestigious contenders in the category, sweeping the competition with three outstanding recognitions:
1. World Champion "Best Red Sparkling Wine"
2. Best in Class "Best Lambrusco Secco Vintage of 2022"
3. Regional Champion "Best Lambrusco of 2022"
Vecchia Modena Premium is produced from the family's 25 hectare estate in Sozzigalli where selected old clones of Lambrusco Sorbara are cultivated. Cleto Chiarli uses a unique method of single fermentation which conserves the integrity of the aromas and flavors of the delicate Sorbara variety.
"What can I say? To win in this arena is an extraordinary result", comments Tommaso Chiarli, director of communication and marketing at Chiarli. He continues, "It's not just about doing things well. It's about garnering the consensus of the three Masters of Wine judging at the competition, who have been tasting the best sparkling wines around the world for decades. It's an overwhelming victory for our Lambrusco di Sorbara that was chosen as the best among the more than 50 wines presented."
The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) is the only international sparkling wine competition judged by sparkling wine specialists, for the new generation of sparkling wine consumers who enjoy sparkling wine on any occasion and recognise its exceptional versitality when partnering food at the table.
The CSWWC endorses provenance and promotes world-class sparkling wines of every region as gastronomic wines par excellence. The competition is now in its eighth year and continues to grow in numbers and stature. It is the largest and toughest sparkling wine competition in the world.
