A veggie burger? Wine Enthusiast pairs Lambrusco

Wine Enthusiast asks drink experts to skip the beer and pair burgers with wine. Bambi Ray, sales manager at New York City’s Astor Wines & Spirits, chose Lambrusco di Sorbara Doc Vecchia Modena Premium for the classic vegetarian burger.

 

Most think of Lambrusco as a pairing for charcuterie and meat-based dishes, yet among all burgers, the savory veggie burger needed both the lift and the aromatic complexity of our signature Sorbara to balance it.

 

Our Lambrusco wines are also the perfect pairing for summer vegetarian salads. Worth a try, in our opinion, is a nutty chickpea-based salad which is then brightened up by adding the freshest garden produce.

 

The chickpeas, roasted red peppers, and greens tossed up with fresh herbs, a pinch of hot pepper, and a clove of garlic, in a lemon vinaigrette, form a healthy and refreshing dish that comes together in a snap. A feta cheese substitute adds a touch of creaminess. Just make sure the Lambrusco is on ice before you begin.
